The UA-1X is not new, but still a nice device. Works normally like a charm, but I have an issue that I was not yet able to resolve. But maybe someone else can.

Here we go:

I have two laptops on which I want to use the Edirol. On my quite old and trusty Compaq Armada M700 the Edirol works as intented with XP SP3. But on my - not so old, but not fresh anymore - HP Compaq nc4000 the Edirol installs itself only as an input device. No possibility to route sound to the output ports. Tried a lot, including installation of ASIO4ALL and XP SP3, but no success.

Any suggestions are welcome.

So, da sind wir am 1. Mai nach dem Frühstück ins Auto gestiegen und von Krefeld aus nach Maintal-Bischofsheim gefahren. Hier wohnt der Rest der Familie und dort hat auch unser Musikverein, das Musik-Corps Bischofsheim 1951 e.V. seinen Sitz. Hauptgrund ist allerdings der Geburtstag einer guten Freundin von uns am Samstag, aber so kann man das gut verbinden.

Gestern hat das Musik-Corps das alljährliche Scheunenkonzert gespielt, und da mein Bruder - der die Truppe dirigiert - mich gefragt hat, habe ich mein Kornett mitgenommen und als wir da waren, dann auch mitgespielt. Das war nach langer Zeit (Habe etwa 4 Jahre nicht mehr gespielt) wieder sehr schön, allerdings merke ich doch, dass mir der Ansatz etwas abhanden gekommen ist. Aber heute abend ist ja Übungsstunde, und da kann ich ja hingehen und mir die Lippe komplett ruinieren. Nach der Probe mit den alten Kumpels unterhalten, 1-2 Bierchen trinken und Spaß haben wie in alten Zeiten ist aber auch mal wieder schön.

Wenn wir zuhause sind, muss ich mir die Zeit nehmen und wieder etwas üben, ohne Ansatz ist das echt nicht toll. Keine Ausdauer, Töne schlecht, Stimmung dürftig - das war schon mal besser.

Demnach wird die Luft ganz schön dünn für Yahoo, wenn Steve Ballmer es wirklich wissen will.

Robert Scoble schaut sich das aus der Userperspektive an.

Robert kommentiert ein Interview mit Nick Carr auf Netzwertig (Teil 1 und Teil 2). Sein überspitzes Fazit lautet “das Netz macht alle arbeitslos”. Auch wenn ich Nicks Thesen immer sehr interessant finde, glaube ich doch, daß wir hier noch einen langen Weg gehen müssen, bis alle Rechenleistung aus der Cloud bezogen wird. Sicher wird es viele geben, für die GAE, AWS und ähnliche Dienste genau richtig sind. Andererseits wird es neben den großen “Kraftwerken” der Cloud auch Blockheizkraftwerke (Servicerechenzentren, klassische Outsourcer) und Eigenerzeugung wie heute geben. Allerdings wird der “Normalanwender” immer mehr seiner Dienste einfach aus der Cloud beziehen - für den Hausgebrauch reicht der Funktionsumfang der Google-Apps ja heute schon aus.

Und bevor sich ein Startup all die Investitionen in professionelle IT-Rechenzentren und Infrastrukturen antut, wird das direkt in der Cloud implementiert. Letztendlich ist die Infrastruktur ja nur ein lästiges Übel, mit dem man sich gerade dann, wenn man sich um Kunden, Wachtum, Marktanteilsgewinn, Innovationen uswusw. fokussieren muss nicht belasten sollte darf.

Super interessanter Artikel. Ob Mesh oder Google App Engine mithalten können? M.E. ist das größte Asset bei Google die Suchfunktionalität über BigTable. Dagegen steht doch der aus meiner Sicht offenere Ansatz mit EC2 und S3 (und den anderen Diensten) bei Amazon. Letztendlich hat man ja selbst in der Hand, wie man das Image zusammenzimmert, das unter EC2 gestartet wird. Und die Freiheit, das auch wieder auszulagern. Lesen!
